A group of residents of Canberra resolved to establish HelpingACT in 2018 with the objective of providing benevolent support and relief without fear or favour to members of our community who aresuffering from poverty, sickness,distress, destitution, misfortune, disability,or helplessness.


HelpingACT is incorporated in the ACT as a not-for-profit association, Association Number: A06012, it's ABN is 28338109260 and is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), the national regulator of charities.

HelpingACT is endorsed by the ATO as a Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).  Endorsement details can be found on the Australian Business Register for HelpingACT.

About our Chair

Mohammed Ali

HelpingACT's founder and chair, Mohammed Ali, has a long history of community work in the ACT and Australia. HelpingACT came out of his vision to help provide a better life for the most vulnerable in our society.

Mohammed Ali was recently named the Canberra Citizen of the Year 2022.  Read more about this award and Mohammed Ali here.

About our Team

HelpingACT has a team of over 50 volunteers, called Helpers, who lend their time and expertise so that HelpingACT can fulfill its objective.  Without them HelpingACT would not exist.  Thank you Helpers!
